Responsible, Respectful and Safe.
Our classroom operates on the simple principle that being responsible in action, respectful in speech and safe in everything we do is at the center of a productive classroom. As a learning community (students and I) we will set up classroom norms and revisit them throughout the year as necessary. The norms can include but aren't limited to) not talking out, raising hands, staying in seat, all four on the floor, etc.. As teacher, it is my job to follow these guidelines and provide a productive learning environment for all learners.
6th grade math is a pivotal year in the students math education progress. It is the last step before the advanced math track. This year we will introduce and use the new Glencoe Math Series in our classroom to help our students prepare for this. Mrs. Moore (our para-professional) will be in the room to help provide extra support and pull out help for learners that need extra support.
Over the next few weeks new resources will appear in the parent/student resource pages that will help you prepare and get ready for 6th grade math.
Vocabulary lists, curriculum guides, lesson materials and tutorial videos will help you and your student throughout the year.
